Parents’ Evening followup

Posted

Thank you to everyone who attended the Parents’ Evening last night.  As you all know we really need help from as many parents as possible with the running of the club and ALL help that we get is greatly appreciated.

Time Keepers

To make events accredited (both in-house and at competitions) they must have all the necessary officials from timekeepers to referees.   We are planning to run an in-house timekeepers course where you will be told the duties of a timekeeper, get shown how to record swimmers’ times, how to average and what to look for prior to pressing the start and stop button. The course lasts a couple of hours and will run on a normal swimming training night. Once complete you will be registered with SASA and be allowed to participate at competitions. Keith Watchorn is organising a timekeepers course so if you are interested please let him know or alternatively email scotia.secretary@gmail.com.

Chaperones

When we attend competitions we need parents to help our coaches poolside with organising the swimmers and making sure they are ready for their swims, with this help it means the coaches can concentrate on getting the best out of all the swimmers.  Please speak to Keith Watchorn or Mark McKinney if this is something you would be interested in or alternatively email scotia.secretary@gmail.com.

Squad Managers

To help our Meet Secretary pass on information about competitions and generally liaise with swimmers each squad needs a parent to volunteer as Squad Manager.  Please speak to Keith Watchorn or Mark McKinney if this is something you would be interested in or alternatively email scotia.secretary@gmail.com.

Fundraising Ideas

We are looking for a number of keen and enthusiastic volunteers to help create a fundraising team. Fundraising is an essential part of any club to ensure enough funds are raised to promote growth, provide resources and equipment and to help finance club extra activities. We are also open to any suggestions you may have with regard to fundraising.  Please email scotia.secretary@gmail.com if this is something you would be interested in.

Scotia Accumulator 2016 awards – Wed 18th May

Posted

This has been one of our best years for swimmers achieving a Gold, Silver or Bronze standard and we’d like to take the time to recognise their achievements. There will be no training for Dolphins, Swordfish, Sharks or A-squad that evening to allow all swimmers to come along and celebrate. (Junior Dolphins will be on as usual).

When:
Wednesday 18th May from 7.30pm until 9.00pm

Where:
The Bishopbriggs Community Church
21 Park Ave
Bishopbriggs
G64 2SN

…although it is commonly known as the ‘church behind Asda’!

As this is a celebration the Club will bring along some soft drinks (non-fizzy) and we ask everyone to bring a little something to share. Items can be brought up to the church from 7pm. As always we’ll need people to help set up so if you can help let me or any of the committee know.

Regards
Joe
Scotia Secretary

West Districts – Best In the West RESULTS

Posted

Well done to all swimmers who took part in “Best in the West” at Tollcross at the weekend.

It’s an amazing venue and we are fortunate to have it close by.  The results for Scotia ASC are now available with lots of great swims and personal bests.  Many of the results are a first long course (LC) time so no improvement is shown. Please email me if you would like an up to date list of your/child’s times, both LC and SC.

The results from this can be viewed in the usual places – i.e. the Results page where you can see the results of all competitions we have entered and also the Event page for the meet itself.

Mini League 2016 Finals – 11th June

Posted

Hi all,

As you will probably be aware the Mini League 2016 Finals are on Saturday the 11th June at the Citadel pool in Ayr. The time is yet to be confirmed as there are 2 finals on this day and clubs are still to compete in their 3rd round so we do not know which final we are in.

Unlike previous rounds we do not have access to a spare lane as 6 teams will be competing therefore I can only invite a limited amount of swimmers to compete. Some of those who are selected will only compete in relays but are still extremely valuable to our team.

Well done to the following swimmers on their selection:

Charis Crawford Keir Samson
Eva Martin Mark Zimmer
Erin Connor Mark Watchorn
Alyssa Martin Glen Campbell
Katy Candy Fraser Sutherland
Kiera Hart Fraser Baird
Amelie Haak Ben Watchorn
Caitlin McLeod Ruairi McKinnon
Keisha MacCormack Robson Miles
Christy Shaw Ross Campbell
Olivia McGinley

On the same weekend the Cumbernauld meet is on so if your child has not been selected their attendance would be recommended at this meet. Swimmers who have been selected can enter Cumbernauld on Sunday 12th but Mini League takes priority on Saturday.

Thanks,

Eilidh.

Scotia WIN @ Campbeltown- Mini league Round 3

Posted

Another WIN for Scotia! Amazing swims everyone!

1st place- Scotia ASC 170pts   2nd– Rutherglen 148pts    3rd– Kintyre 117pts

A huge thank you to all parents, swimmers and especially coaches who travelled the 300 mile round trip on Saturday. That commitment has paid off and Scotia ASC is currently sitting top of the mini league table.

Again, we are indebted to team manager/coach Eilidh and squad coaches Lindsay and Connor, who despite a challenging journey, were there to organise, motivate and encourage.

The final is at the Citadel on Saturday 11th June – Please keep the date free

Results are available on the Event page and also on the usual Results page.
