Volunteering Opportunities

Be a Committee Member

Like most sports clubs, Scotia ASC is organised and run by its committee; volunteers who are willing to give up some of their free time to improve the running of the club for the betterment of all our children. The more willing volunteers we have, the less work we all have to do.

There are many and varied roles you could be involved with. We always need help with club administration, swimming competition entries, managing finances, wellbeing and protection, social media and software, club shop and membership enquiries to name but a few. At the moment the bulk of this work is carried out by a small but dedicated number of people. As swimmers progress through the club and ultimately leave, parents need replacing on the committee.

Please don’t assume someone else will do it. Ultimately it is all our club.

If you are interested in helping us out an any way please approach one of the current committe members or email [email protected].

Be a Coach or a Poolside Helper

Scotia ASC is always interested in parents with passion of coaching. Even if you have no experience whatsoever please give it some thought. You will be fully trained via a Scottish Swimming Course (paid for by the club). Although this is a voluntary position it is hugely rewarding and the more coaches the club has the less onerous it is for everyone. For more information regarding becoming a coach click this link.

Alternatively if you would like to see what it is like before committing you could be a poolside helper. This just requires a PVG certification.

Be an Official Helper

Lastly you could be one of the many volunteers that help run a successful competition meet. Every meet that Scotia ASC swimmers participate in needs willing helpers. These roles include Team Managers, Judges, Time Keepers and Marshalls. It is often a requirement of attending meets that Scotia ASC provide officials and we all need to do our bit. To find out more click this link.
