How to Enter Competitions

Scotia ASC is one of many club in the West District area. When clubs host meets they invite certain clubs to compete. Scotia ASC is invited to most (but not all) local competitions. Furthermore, for each meet our coaches assess which swimmers are best suited for that competition. In most instances only certain squads will be invited to take part.

Therefore swimmers in certain squads will be invited to take part in certain meets. See our calendar for more details. If your swimmer is part of squad that is invited to a certain meet - you will receive a notification email and the meet will be made available via our OnDeck App.

There are 2 ways you can enter your swimmer for a competition:

Website (SportsEngine) Entry

When in the website click on the "sign in" button in the top right corner of the home page and log in to SportsEngine (or create an account if this is your first time). Once logged in go to "Events and Competitions". You should now see the event that your swimmer has been invited to. Once selected you should be able to "commit" you swimmer to the event and select the races. If your swimmer is showing as ineligible for a meet or swim then your swimmer is either not part of a squad that is invited to the meet or does not meet the cirteria to swim. Please speak with your coach for more information.

OnDeck App

We encourage parents to utilise the OnDeck App. Log in to the OnDeck App (the details are the same as the website). Select upcoming events (or events from the sidebar) and you should now see the event your swimmer has been invited to. From here you will be able to "commit" to the meet and select the races. If your swimmer is showing an ineligible for a meet or swim then your swimmer is either not part of a squad that is invited to the meet or does not meet the cirteria to swim. Please speak with your coach for more information.

Which Event

You'll next need to decide which event(s) to entry your swimmer for. There are a number of factors to consider here. If it is your swimmers first event you might want to enter your swimmer in the events they enjoy the most or are most competent in. If they are a little more experienced you might think it worth entering your swimmer for a stroke or distance they are a little less assured in in order to gain confidence. Try not to overload your swimmer. Give them a chance to perform to the best of their ability. If you are unsure it is best to speak to your swimmer's coach.

Payment

You will now not be permitted to enter races without having a card registered on SportsEngine or the OnDeck App. You will be prompted to add this. Once this is done you can save your selected races. Don't worry -  you can make as many changes you like up to the closing date for the meet. Payment will be taken shortly after the closing date when we submit your entry to the race organiser on your behalf.  The charge for each race includes a 2.95% commission + 20p per transaction charge. If your swimmer is scratched from any race you will be refunded the full amount for that race.

If your swimmer has accepted entries but cannot make the meet for any reason please let the coach of your squad know by email at [email protected] and our meet secretary at [email protected] as early as possible. Generally the meet organiser will not refund the money for the races missed in these circumstances and therefore the club will not be able refund you the entry fee. In the unlikely event a refund is obtain we will endeavour to pass this on to you.

If you have any queries regarding payment please contact the Treasurer at [email protected].
