Sharks

Overview & Objectives

Improve Stroke Technique: Focus on refining the swimmers' technique in all four competitive strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly) to ensure efficiency and reduce drag in the water.

Increase Endurance: Work on building the swimmers' aerobic capacity and stamina through structured training sets, from time to time increasing the distance and intensity of the workouts.

Enhance Speed and Power: Implement speed-focused training sessions that include drills, intervals, and sprints to improve the swimmers' acceleration and overall speed in the water.

Develop Starts and Turns: Concentrate on perfecting the swimmers' starts and turns, as these are crucial aspects of competitive swimming that can significantly impact race outcomes.

Set Personal Best Times: Encourage swimmers to set personal goals for specific events and work towards achieving their best times, focusing on gradual improvement over time.

Compete Successfully at Local/District/National Level: Aim to qualify and perform well at higher-level competitions, such as Local, District, or national championships, by targeting specific qualifying times and preparing for the competitive environment.

Foster Teamwork and Sportsmanship: Promote a supportive and cohesive team environment, emphasizing teamwork, camaraderie, and good sportsmanship among the swimmers.

Develop Mental Toughness: Help swimmers build mental resilience, concentration, and focus to perform at their best during races, manage pre-competition nerves, and bounce back from setbacks.

Long-Term Athlete Development: Provide opportunities for swimmers to progress and advance to a more competitive squad, ensuring a holistic approach to their long-term development in the sport.

It's important to note that the specific goals of an age group swimming squad may vary depending on the swimmers' age, skill level, competition level, and the overall objectives set by the coach and the swimming program.
